Nicolle Niki Salisbury Reviews

This review applies to Niki Nicolle Photographer, Burcombe, Salisbury and not to be confused with anyone else of a similar name.

We employed Ms Niki Nicolle to photograph our wedding.

Ms Nicole was contracted (in black and white) to take photos of the bride and her maids getting ready at the hotel. She was then to move onto the church and take photos of the wedding and the guests before finally returning to the hotel for the reception. We did not employ Ms Nicolle for the evening reception since we did not like her suggestions.

For this service Ms Nicole charged us £300 and all the money had to be paid up front.

We were, however, very disappointed with Ms Nicolle’s attendance, the quality of her work and her overall professionalism for the following reasons:

1. Ms Nicole only turned up to the church. She failed to turn up at the hotel both before and after the reception as she was contracted. The lost photo opportunities of the bride and bridesmaids getting ready cannot be recreated. Neither can the photo opportunities at the reception (arrival, greetings, guests mingling, the meal the speeches)

2. Ms Nicole made not attempt to take charge of the group photographs despite being asked to by myself (the groom), leaving it to the bride and groom to decide on the spot and call out for the relevant people to take part in the photos. This was my bride’s and mine first (and only) wedding so we lacked the experience to know which shots to be taken. Noticeably missing are a group shot of everyone who attended the ceremony and several of the bride’s family. These lost photo opportunities cannot be recreated. Upon discussion with other people after the wedding it became apparent that the photographer usually has a meeting with the bride and groom to discuss such matters. This was never offered to us.

3. There was a beautiful lake by the church that the bride and I thought was a perfect back drop for the photos and we discussed this with Ms Nicolle at the initial meeting. For some reason Ms Nicolle took the photographs at the first convenient spot she found, often having the road in the background (sometimes with passing cars) instead of the lake.

4. The quality of the photographs was also disappointing. Although over 400s shots were taken there were less that 40 decent ones. There were many repeats and backs of people heads. The photos of just the bride and the groom, although they didn’t have the road in the background, were taken at an angle so it looks as if we are leaning. Fortunately some guests captured some better shots with their cameras upright. The silhouette of the people in the group photographs was, we felt, very poor, particularly for the photo of my extended family with many people cluttered to the right of the groom and head heights all over the place. The only suggestion Ms Nicole made (that I can remember) to improve the position of the line-ups was for my brother in law to move into view from behind another family member. Ms Nicolle took several photos before she asked him to move. The only other suggestions that I am aware Ms Nicole made were for me to undo my jacked button and for a group photo of the dancers who attended (it was though this dance class that we initially met Ms Nicolle).

5. Ms Nicolle left the church before the bride and groom missing the shots of us departing in the wedding car. Ms Nicolle muttered something about getting back quickly for some child (presumably her grandchild). My new wife and I were too engrossed in the roles bride and groom to challenge this. Again these lost photo opportunities cannot be recreated.

6. Ms Nicolle published all the photos on Facebook before the bride and I had even had a chance to see them. Not only is this incredibly unprofessional and may breach data protection laws but implies that Ms Nicolle owned the copyright to these photos. Having paid her £300 upfront for what turned out to be less than two hours of her time I think I should own the copyright (this is likely a grey area in the law and would probably take a court to determine ownership). It is incredibly cheeky that when you receive a disk of the photos that you have paid the photographer’s time to take, that it kindly gives you permission to share and print your wedding photos printed onto the disk cover.

7. I wrote to Ms Nicolle detailing my unhappiness at her attendance, quality of work and professionalism and asking for a refund. This letter was received and signed for by Ms Nicolle. Although she removed the photos from Facebook as requested, Ms Nicolle has not bothered to reply let alone return any money.

Fortunately our disappointment with Ms Nicolle did not spoil our wedding day itself but has put a dampener on what should have been fond memories. With hindsight we would not have used her, let alone pay money up front.
