Everything I say below is in my honest opinion and can be verified by records which I have kept.

In summary, Mr Atkins is dishonest, his planning, choice of materials, workmanship, and timekeeping are all poor. My advice is, If you are thinking of hiring him don’t, If work has commenced then retain payment until you are completely satisfied with his work.

I hired NA Property, in August 2014, to remove worn out decking and replace it with a stone and wood structure. The price was to include, design, supply of materials and labour, backed by a 25 year guarantee.
In the first week, two days were taken off due to a medical condition which Mr Atkins said that he had told me about, but he had not. The following weeks were marked by a number of no shows. The result was that everything seemed to be rushed towards the end.

Within days of completion, boards were popping up and the surrounding flagging stones had come loose. Mr Atkins returned twice to make superficial fixes which lasted no more than a day or so. He has now refused to return, saying that he has been burgled and all his tools stolen. I asked him to provide evidence of this and he has not done so. He also states that he had warned me that the design would cause problems from the onset, but he had not. Why give a 25 year guarantee on something he knew would not last a month!

I am now left with an unusable, unsafe structure and a repair bill of £1400. I will now, March 2015, be taking legal action against Mr Atkins.
