Braintree Motor Works Ltd Braintree Reviews

I visited Braintree Motor Works after doing an online search for a BMW specialist in Braintree. I needed a BMW specialist due to problems with my stability control and i had already been to another garage that could not read my ECU. I also had a problem with the near side rear wheel that came off while driving.

When i arrived at Braintree Motor Works i spoke to a gentleman called Clive and explained the faults with my car and the fact i had already taken my car to another garage that could not read my ECU and still charged me for their time. He advised me he had 15+ years experience with BMW's working for BMW directly as a Service manager for many years and made it clear he would look after me and resolve the problems i had, i thought great as Clive seemed a really nice guy and knew what he was taking about.

He looked at the back wheel straight away and fixed it within 15 minutes and charged me for half hours work that came to £30, i was happy as this made my car safe to drive again, as i was happy with the work and the manor i was treated i also asked if they could do a service on the following Tuesday when they were going to carry out the diagnostics.

I dropped the car off at the garage where they advised me it was going to take a couple of hours and they kindly offered me a lift either home or to town, but i declined as i thought i would walk in to town and waste some time.

I never heard anything back so tried to call them and they were constantly engaged, this was at 13:00 bearing in mind i dropped the car off at 08:30, this being nearly double the time they said it would take so i walked back to the garage to see the car out front. When i walked in to the office Clive was not there but his business partner was who runs the body shop. He gave me the bill that came to over £200 bearing in mind the service was only £140, they had also double charged me for the fitting of new bolts that they had replaced on my first visit, i questioned the extra charges and was told that the bill was correct. They had also charged me for plugging in the machine to read my ECU that i asked them to do, but just telling me what faults had registered with the code did not help me at all they did not explain what they meant. I left the garage feeling rather let down.

The following day i then start getting warning messages on my dashboard and iDrive telling me my oil level was too high, this is very dangerous and if any knows anything about cars this is just as dangerous as having no oil in the engine, this may have even cause damage to the engineer i guess i will find out after driving it for a bit. I rang them up to advise of the warning messages and they asked me to pop back in. When i got to the garage they said it would be a sensor problem that i would need to replace and not the fact they filled it up to high, but after they drained some oil the warning message all cleared so it was pretty clear they had over filled it. (Lets hope there is no damage). I asked them again while i was there about the error codes again, they then advised i would need to replace some sensors, as i have warranty on the car i sent them an email with the form to fill out so i could claim it was only a one page form that would only take a couple of minutes but they did not fill it out, i then rang them the following day and they advised they would ring me back but they never. The day after i had the front 2 tyres replaced when the tyre garage tried to get the front two wheels of they really struggled and i watched them having to get a massive bar and put loads of pressure on to undo, you do not over tight alloy wheels as its very dangerous, so they either over tightened them or they did not take them off at all and they were just really tight where they had been on for a long time, if the wheels were not taken off then what exactly did they do that i paid for, the basics in a service include taking the wheels off. I decided to check the engine oil as my trust had completely gone, the car had only done 19 mile and it was blacker than black and this was meant to be fresh oil.

Will never be using this garage again and i advise you do they same if you want a job done correctly and be charged the correct amount for the work that is being carried out.
