This is a warning to anybody buying from skinners sheds.
They will look for any reason not to install the shed. If they can't find a reason, they will make one up. Then they will charge you 10% plus £35 for them to come back and do what you have now paid twice for. The alternative is to sign away your 10 year guarantee which they make such a big deal of.
We put down a brand new concrete base for our shed that was level and perfectly acceptable for a shed. When the shed was finally delivered at 4:30 pm on a Friday afternoon, they said our base was not smooth enough and they couldn't assemble the shed. Despite assembly being included in the price, we were told it would cost us an extra £130 for them to come back and assemble it.
I phoned the office I bought the shed from and explained I felt our base was more than adequate for a shed. Sure, you couldn't play snooker on it but for a shed it was level and perfectly fine. I asked if they could waive the extra fee for them to come back and assemble the shed but was flatly told no. So despite being a loyal customer (this was our 3rd shed in about 2 years) with the potential for many more as we are landlords with many properties, Skinners sheds were not willing to compromise one penny.
This whole process appears to be a scam to swindle an extra £130 out of customers on top of the already high shed prices. Just to clarify, when the previous two sheds were installed, I had to sign away the guarantee or they wouldn't assemble the shed (again because they deemed the base not smooth enough despite it being a paved patio) or they would have Charged me the extra to come back. The previous two times I was onsite and decided to sign away my guarantee. Unfortunately on this occasion, by the time Skinners Sheds turned up, I had given up and left so only my wife was onsite. She was unwilling to sign away our guarantee. Skinners sheds refuse to come back and assemble it unless we fork out an extra £130.
So I shall be unrecommending Skinners Sheds to everyone I have recommended them to and making sure everyone I meet in the property industry knows to stay well clear. There are plenty of shed manufacturers to choose from, and Skinners is priced at the top end of the market. The only thing to differentiate one company from another is the customer service and we have been poorly treated and our loyalty completely disregarded.
It takes a lot to earn a good reputation and gain a customer. Well Skinners have a poor reputation now in my view and have not only lost me but everyone I meet as a customer.
