On 1st impressions this garage was brill,,, 2 polite,, seemingly caring guys turned up to my call out request. (Made 29/6/14)
I had a car that was inetermittant at starting basically 1 minute it would start straight away another it could take 10-15mins to get going but would get there eventually. I text Jay on a Sunday evening he got back to me very quickly and assured me he'd be here by 1pm on Monday. Just after 11am he phoned to say he would be coming,,,great i thought!!! WORST MISTAKE EVER!
Should've known right from the start that he was as useless with cars as i am,, seen as he didnt even turn up with a screwdriver!!!!! He quickly diagnosed my car as a fault with the fusebox and was in a rush to get to his next job in Crewe so said that he would get the car recovered to his garage that afternoon even though i said it would start eventually. I explained i had limited funds, he asked my budget and said he could do the job within that budget. He asked when i needed the car by and when i could pay my reply was Friday as thats when i was next at work and got paid! I was assured the car would be fixed by then , this was on Monday,,,, fast forward to Friday (04/07/14),,,,,,no car and no communication so i phoned Big Jays and was told my car was ready and would be bought to me on the Saturday, i asked if maybe it could be delivered by 2pm as i had work and didnt want to incurr more taxi costs, was told "i'll try my best",,,, Awesome i thought!! As i hadnt heard anything i tried to phone again at 2pm with no response so i left a message asking for the car to be bought to me at work,,, heard nothing the whole weekend despite advertising stating his premises are open Saturday and Sunday. Finally got through to him at roughly 11 am Monday morning (nearly 4 days after my car was promised to me) to be told he had lost his phone in a customers car which is why he headnt got back to me! Phew,,,i said!!! He told me my car was sorted and would be delivered at some point that day,,,, Tuesday arrives still no car and NO COMMUNICATION by now i am starting to lose my cool,,, thinking is it cos im a woman maybe?? I spoke to Jay and said the words "you could have my car for 6 weeks it wouldnt bother me but to keep telling me its ready and will be delivered is wrong and your communication skills and customer service skills are extremely poor" and he agreed with me! Tuesday all day was told they were gettin a fusebox from here there and everywhere was told at 2pm that he had sent a lad to sheffield for one and would be back in 20 mins so car would be with me that afternoon. 530pm i called again as shockingly still no car to be answered by the guy who had apparently been in sheffield and he said he'd just got back (a 20minute journey apparently took him near on 3 hrs) and that he was plugging the fusebox back to the car and it will be with me that evening,,,,,,so thats 9days so far with no car,,,loss of earnings,,,incurring costs,, making a just 5yr old walk the 2 miles to school and back to still have no car on Tuesday evening!! Phoned the garage and Jays mobile from the time the advertised opening hours were on the website to yet again get no answer. Finally at 1030 a lady answered Jays mobile saying he was driving and he would get back to me when he got back to the garage in 5 mins! 1hour later i gave in and phoned them AGAIN to then be told by Jay "he had been working on my car all night" (baring in mind not one phone call answered or made on his part to me and the fact he was out driving at 1030am) "and had not been home or out of garage as he had been working on my car all night and hadnt slept",,, a car that he had already stated on 4 different occasions was fixed and ready to come back to me. When he finally answered the phone he told me he could not fix my car and not only that it,, now NO longer works AT ALL!!! Then when we obviously asked for the car returning to us he was trying to charge us!! SERIOUSLY????? He argued with my husband on the phone about said costs and even offered to have someone fetch him so they could talk "face to face" about it,,, we called a recovery firm to arrange our own recovery as advised by the CAB and the mechanic that recoverwd it could not believe the state the car was left in! Bolts are missing from the car,, Big Jays have left the gear box (not needed to be touched at all) unbolted so even if the car had started it would have been a death trap! The EMU also unbolted and not plugged in, fuses all in the wrong place!! Some mechanic!!! This case is now in the hands of Trading Standards for the Supply of Services and Goods act of 1982 and had now been escalted due to "no skill or due care" being used by Jay whilst he had my vehicle in his care. We have photographic eveidence, text messages and call logs to back the case up, we have an independant mechanics report to say basically "Big Jays Mechanics" have totally screwed us!
